Spent the evening last night, looking at the principles of games design for a card game, of course many of the principles could and can be used in modern digital games. Was interesting to realise and hear that it need not be a game relating to a normal 52 card standard deck.
We can change the cards to be whatever we like, as long as they are cards and no more than 60 - brings to mind for me instantly the freedom to design and draw each card separately... images of games like the magic the gathering come to mind.
Like the idea of a avatar card to allow people to play as and identify themselves, like the idea of a combat type game, maybe a deck for encounters and rewards for besting the fights. Brings in that must be a minimum of 2 players so maybe a gladiator type game?
2 avatars pitched against each other, maybe troops as cards to assist their fight, maybe life counted by a pen and paper (only tool available). Important i feel for me not to clone an existing game of this ilk.

Going to research the games of this type and look at ways i could personalise or adapt my own game.
